Budget, the sister company of budget, tasked us with redesigning their new website.
Initially intended to be a re-skin of our Avis website (who own Budget), we managed to convince the client that more needed to be done to differentiate the two brands. We therefore developed a whole new experience, using insights and our experience working on Avis, to propose and develop a completely new business model and customer experience that offers simplicity to more cost minded customers.
We aimed to create the worlds simplest car renting website, by reducing the amount of steps needed on the site to 4, simplifying car categories (a change that would require a business model change) and combining it all into a single page application, allowing users to always have an overview of their current progress, and to also back-track and play around with variables in a way that didn’t require constant page reloads.
This concept proved even more popular with users than expected, with one user completing a car hire in testing in under 20 seconds, while being perfectly aware of the information and decisions taken. Budget have since taken steps to study the possibility of implementing our suggested business model.
